RELEVANT NATIONAL EVENTS
In February 2017, WPTO held its Peer Review Meeting in Arlington, Virginia. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate DOE-funded water power research and development projects for contributions to DOE’s mission and goals, and to assess progress made against stated objectives. In May 2017, Washington, DC was once again the host of Waterpower Week in Washington. This annual event brings three events under one roof: National Hydropower Association’s Annual Conference, the International Marine Renewable Energy Conference (IMREC), and the Marine Energy Technology Symposium. . In December 2017 WPTO organized and hosted a three day Distributed and Alternative Applications for Marine Renewables Forum in Washington, DC to investigate alternative applications and markets for marine energy, other than grid scale power. The information collected from this Forum will be used in a forthcoming report on each of the potential markets and will ultimately help guide the WPTO’s activities and strategy.
